I still love this...You are not your own, but belong...

1. Q. What is your only comfort in life and death?

A. That I am not my own,[1] but belong with body and soul, both in life and in death,[2] to my faithful Saviour Jesus Christ.[3] He has fully paid for all my sins with His precious blood, and has set me free from all the power of the devil.[5] He also preserves me in such a way[6] that without the will of my heavenly Father not a hair can fall from my head;[7] indeed, all things must work together for my salvation.[8] Therefore, by His Holy Spirit He also assures me of eternal life[9] and makes me heartily willing and ready from now on to live for Him.[10]

Parents: Don't Butt Your Head

Parents must realize that their children are created by God to have dominion in the earth. By God's design, they have an increasing mastery over themselves and their environment. As they grow, they are able to responsibly cope with more freedom from parental discipline and supervision. This is what God is doing in the life of a growing child. It is vital that parents are working with God's program rather than butting their heads against it. --Dick Keyes

Prayer

Yesterday's New York Times had an article about our prayer from sunday morning. We asked that God would stop those who might try to hinder relief efforts in Asia. One rebel army group that usually harms "foreigners" has promised safety to relief workers.

Also, women's bible studies--on Prayer--start today. The morning one is happening currently. Evening is tonight, time? 7:30pm i believe... call Ray in office to find out for sure 379-4949

MLK

from MLK's famous "Letter from a Birmingham Jail"
When you suddenly find your tongue twisted and your speech stammering as you seek to explain to your six-year-old daughter why she cannot go to the public amusement park that has just been advertised on television, and see tears welling up in her eyes when she’s told that Funtown is closed to colored children, and see ominous clouds of inferiority beginning to form in her little mental sky, and see her beginning to distort her personality by developing an unconscious bitterness toward white people..." Here's the whole letter:

Loving the Mormon Missionaries Update

Thanks for praying. We had a good half hour meeting. I think they sensed that i cared for them as people and that led to us talking about the gospel and how we are made right with God. I asked them what they'd have me consider (i'll write more on that later.) and through that the conversation naturally progressed to talking about the Protestant Reformation and guys like Calvin and Luther. During that discussion the gospel of salvation by grace through faith in Christ was a topic. I might go running with the leader next week. Nice boys.

Tomorrow 9am classes for all
The connection between the baptism of the Holy Spirit and water baptism... in adult class.

Tsunami Relief

You may have heard that this morning WJLF 91.7 is participating in a state-wide effort to send money to a friend of mine from seminary that many men met recently at prayer meeting, Paul Billy Arnold. Paul leads Bangalore Presbyterian Church in Southern India and they are spearheading an effort to build stable homes for the homeless Tsunami victims. I will get that money to India for you if you'd like to give through CCC.
